What if we forget about more rigid resolutions for our new year and consider new daily choices that move the dial toward a year filled with kindness, inspiration and genuine growth! Not that we ignore the reality that holds many back. After a decade of pompous positioning of persistently bad public problem solvers, let’s look to bring together awesome brains for more wins in 2025!
Did we awaken to chaos or calm today? To greed or giving? To cynicism or kindness? Consider our personal offering of wonder, however big or small. Fact is, we’ll grow a healthier mindset as we let go of a few traditional takeaways, in favor of trying a few more meaningful outcomes together. Implementing upshots that benefit people on both sides of issues we face. That’s where our new neural pathways come in to carry us past any confusion in our current chaotic culture. How so?
Good news! Our brains have all the equipment we need to launch mental and emotional synapses as superpowers that ensure we thrive in 2025, in spite of any false or frustrating back steps we took in 2024. Enter the namungo family to help us out:
These namungos (or fictional characters with real brain parts) show a few cool ways we could rock that broken boat where leaks and dead wood slowed down our efforts to collaborate and move forward together on issues we’re passionate about. I’m speaking of each of us applying more mental and emotional discoveries that open golden gates into grace and goodness for ourselves and others, in response to daily stressors.
Most agree that well run get-togethers can rock electrifying opportunities that often remain hidden and unseen to one-upping others for personal gain. Lesser known however is how to rock more brainpower regardless of our roles or capabilities at any growth minded get-together.
We start simply by engaging six namungos below to add new neural possibilities beyond past problems.
What if we try for instance, any one or all of 6 surefire ways namungo brain parts in each of us can both take treasures from and contribute rare gems to any circles we attend? What if we each learn, lead or collaborate, for instance? First, meet BAS who can help us launch a different way in 2025.
1, Get to know a stranger by affirming at least one of their assets and by assuring them we expect to do something differently because they and their unique contribution is here. Inquire what they are up to lately, and avoid judging their ideas or issues. Consider how we might trigger brain-friendly possibilities from a problem we both face.
We’ll bypass our brain’s pack-rat basal ganglia (nicknamed BAS) which warehouses a lifetime of ruts and broken routines like squirrels stockpile nuts in winter. Curiosity for others’ insights rather than criticism offers inspiration possibilities to open magnificent doors into life-changing ventures when we ditch our basal ganglia routines or ruts to run with a new tactic.
2. Laugh out loud at something ridiculous we’ve done in past yet expect to do better because of lessons learned from mistakes. No beating up on self here though! What have we just triggered?
Serotonin (nicknamed SERO) is our brain’s wellbeing chemical. SERO packs new zest when we laugh at our own mistakes, or engage kindness for opportunities to build peaceful solutions where all win. Get others laughing too and serotonin sends care across an entire room.
3. Disrupt a lie or deception with more truthful evidence, by kindly asking, What if…? Or, What if we thought about …? That inquisitive gesture alone, offered in a compassionate tone, triggers our brain for change and for winning possibilities.
Our plasticity (nicknamed PLAS) is our brain’s ability to change itself. When engaged through an open mind or growth mindset we can reshape our directions by rebooting or rewiring our brains based more on genuine and winning actions we do. Yes, PLAS literally grows us more brainpower as a result of our growth mindset choices and actions!
4. Jot down and propose a novel possibility to address a pesky problem. Add hints to show how we can do it better together. Expect to forget the good stuff proposed but not implemented though. Our working memory (nicknamed WM) acts like a computer copy-paste file. When new ideas or experiences enter, all our innovative insights temporarily stored there, flee.
How then does WM help us to prevent loss of these temporarily stored data bits?
When new facts fly in from our next novel proposal, our brain’s thimble sized capacity for new facts will not get displaced if we use the data to create a solution. Or we can outsource our working memory by creating cheat sheets as tactics we will soon use to implement proposed possibilities. The idea is to use new facts to prevent their loss.
5. Run from vents and flee from people who sprout them. Instead of bemoaning miseries hurled by skeptics, offer a fun, doable proposal and help to improve whatever was miserable. Vents trigger cortisol (nicknamed CORT).
CORT is our brain’s toxic and deadly stress chemical as it packs a sucker punch whenever we vent, rage, gloat, give into greed or nay-say. Get others proposing mental make-overs wherever we spot snags and the swag that follows is ours to enjoy as a result. If we surmised that CORT is replaced only by turning on or triggering SERO takeovers, we are correct!
6. Ramp up emotional IQ by choosing possibilities and proposing doable solutions to problems we face. We could call it taming our amygdala, (nicknamed MYG). MYG is our brain’s seat of emotions. Wonder what have we just triggered here by engaging MYG?
Our amygdala stores every shout-out we make for a peer, every thanks we offer a fellow participant, every family or friendship bond we value, every sincere smile we flash to a stranger! A tamed amygdala sets our mental and emotional stage for mind-bending takeaways – that get us more bang for every buck.
Ready to risk one new neural step past lies, laments or litigations we started or suffered in 2024! Let’s awaken one or more of these six namungos to rock more brainpower for our next year together! Which namungo will launch our new trajectory to takeaway more care and kindness by leaving behind chaos and CORT? If so, expect to rock electrifying opportunities that may well remain hidden and unseen to some who fear engaging our brain’s newly discovered equipment to construct new neural pathways for better benefits.
What will we do today to awaken our minds to the opportunities and chosen possibilities waiting for us in 2025? Let’s start with SERO’s inner kindness and lead an innovation that improves our chances for a happier and healthier 2025? https://www.youtube.com/embed/xGT3U_B6HGA
