I really don’t think we fully embrace the joys of grace until we stop thinking of it as a theory and start living it as an active energy that grows EQ and builds healthy cultures, where all beliefs, customs and habits find acceptance. Whenever we propose and chase a possibility, such as valuing diverse people, problems tend to fade. The opposite is also true. Focus on chaos or criticism and we can drown EQ in toxic tsunami force. Our daily choices regulate the inner joy and grit of a grace mindset to flourish and thrive.
Consider a spiritual community that requires complete silence for months on end.
One postulate marked her first yearly invitation to speak three words only, with. “Not enough sleep.” On year two her three spoken words were, “Too many chores.” So nobody seemed surprised that this novitiate shared in year three, “I’m getting out.”
When our mindset focuses on complaints only we miss the grace-filled adventures that open to us daily where loving-kindness, empathy, healing and hope set the tone.
On this journey through life we find the good and the bad, the grimace and the grin. There’s wonder to love and memories to hold. There’s love to enjoy and forgiveness to reboot. There’s change to explore and grace to expand our vista and improve our choices.
