Why then, do we sometimes trigger stress rather than bask in wonder?  And what do Einstein’s words mean to you – Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Enter 6 namungos – or Fiction Characters with Real Brain Parts that Impact your Imagination.

1. STUCK or FREE? Imagination grows when you focus on possibilities rather than problems. For instance, when your basal ganglia or mental storehouse overflows with past problems, failures, anxieties or unmet expectations, it slows down progress. (Character is BAS with real brain part or basal ganglia). How has imagination impacted your life?

SHAKE UP RUTS by applying innovative approaches in the following ways ~Store lively new possibilities that offer benefits to all and your brain will begin to default to these new experiences. For instance, add classical music in the background to increase focus. Sketch a solution or proposal after a sizzling discussion or hot topic – then share tangible benefits a person who differs with you will love. Walk along a stream or sit near water and ask yourself key questions such as, What can I learn from this and do differently for better outcomes? Oh, why not teach a few main details to your dog as a way to help you lock-in possibilities and remember through activating imagination. Dogs love attention and brains store whatever you teach.

2. SMILE or SNEER? Everyday stressors tend to rob smile-worthy adventures of learning through imagination’s wider vistas. When serotonin (the brain’s well being chemical that boosts enzymes) gets depleted you lose your  zest for finding solutions. Serotonin regulates the brain’s pathways to solutions so that you can apply clear thinking even when difficulties try to tank you. Under what conditions does imagination work best for you?

ROMANCE THE JOY of Learning Alfred Lloyd Whitehead said. How so? Choices you make about contentment can amp up imagination’s help in the following ways ~Laugh at yourself and laugh whenever you make a mistake – in order to fuel contentment and raise takeaways you’ll imagine before you realize. Serotonin will do the imagining! Surround yourself with people who enjoy life and then copy or mimic what they do to make a difference when problems arise. Get enough sleep and stay calm before tackling a difficult dilemma simply by imagining something you enjoy. Wherever you see a problem – imagine a possibility – since serotonin can be depleted by facing problems without sleep to help you reach for solutions. Choose to enjoy the journey and then imagine five ways you plan to make that happen. Check off each imaginative choice that helps you laugh and play with facts that improve your situation.

3. REBOOT or STAGNATE? Every time you replace anxiety with imagined delight, the brain rewires itself for more delight that night in REM sleep. Your actions (such as exchanging panicked preparations for an imaginary fun get-together) literally reshape the brain mentally and physically, for more of the same. In other words, your brain’s plasticity reshapes dreaded encounters, into imaginative exchanges. What would imagination change most for you and how so?

GET PLASTIC Simply imagine your brain’s ability to change itself,  and visualize improved results will come from imagination in the following ways.  Apply new facts that will change your brain, such as drawing answers from people you trust, teaching others as you learn yourself, rapping facts to remember more, create a collage to engage family strengths, laugh to relax and boost enzymes, log imagination’s progress in an interactive journal. Tweet your answers to friends, build a mock-up to represent new ideas, pose two footed questions to engage others imagination, model good tone skills to engage opposing views.

4. REMEMBER or FORGET? Too many facts with too few applications leaves you frustrated and overwhelmed. Your brain comes with a working memory – which is like a mental sticky note that holds a few ideas at a time.  Imagine how to you apply what you learn, play with new concepts, encourage ideas from others to create a new innovation, and practice new possibilities daily. Working memory’s thimble sized capacity holds few facts that feed your imagination and advance you to quality outcomes. What one area would imagination change most for you?

OUTSOURCE WORKING MEMORY with simply crafted cheat sheets to keep multiple intelligences fluid (See MI Chart below) and advance imagination skills in the following ways ~ Create recipe sized cards with two-footed questions to engage a friend. Accept the discomfort in working memory, to attain the thrill of inventors and innovators who lean on imagination’s ability to use mistakes as stepping stones to creative solutions. Add a few new possibilities to your working memory just before tackling a stubborn issue with others. Imagine you will lead a cynic to use more imagination and act out what you would in that situation.Create a story or sketch for a family member, to help you outsource new facts by hooking them to an interest others hold, so they stick. Use imagination to help you integrate details into bigger ideas that benefit all.

5. STRESS or SOLUTIONS?  Sadly, we fall into disadvantages daily whenever our brains fuel with cortisol, a stress chemical. How so? Cortisol comes with and is exacerbated through fear, regret, stress, anxiety, or disappointment. The results? Imagination shuts down, anxiety increases, and negative reactions replace solutions or imagination that advances you.

CHASE AWAY CORTISOL that can literally shrink your brain, lead to illness or shave years off your life. Imagination is rarely part of a desire to be perfect, but will support your next new step in the direction of excellence. Imagination takes time to engage – so avoid last minute anything and imagine ahead the concrete success you crave in any situation. Surround yourself with people who focus on possibilities more and vent less about problems so that imagination will kick in with solutions that benefit you and others. Laugh, laugh, laugh! Smile at flaws to chase away cortisol – and refuel with imagination’s chemicals for well being. Oh, thank people, forgive missteps and refuse to blame for mistakes or shortcomings, to keep imagination alive when you need it most. Use your imagination today to simply hook this new fact onto what you already know about imagination by visualizing its possibilities. What blocks imagination’s benefits for you?

6. EMOTIONAL BALANCE or BUST?
Walk into a grueling situation with an untamed amygdala (the seat of your emotions) expect few solutions or skills. The amygdala stores all problematic emotional responses such as bullying, cheating, worrying, or rejecting others that emerge to block your imagination’s effectiveness. This tiny sac of neurons acts like a lightning rod for people who’ve met many emotional failures. Store emotions you’d like others to see in you, by responding with your imaginative expectations and expect emotional health to follow next time you need its elixir.

RAISE EMOTIONAL IQ by imagining cool responses that improve what you store in your amygdala. Hang out with friends who illumine good moods, or try tone skills such as thanking others, disagreeing respectfully, listening to and learning from people who differ. Wondering where to start?

Imagine opposite reactions to anger, moodiness, displeasure, and your amygdala  learns to relax and tackle problems with positive moods. Act on moods that create possibilities for all, and engage imagination to  tame amygdala reactions that create emotional panic, anxiety, or discouragement. Observe and copy those you respect to learn how they would imagine healthy emotions. Play with imaginative responses and ignore petty mistakes as you reach for confidence that embraces imagination’s risk to move forward. Did I just imply that imagination expands with actions? What do your moods have to do with imagination?
